Keepers of the Flame: Saluting 100 Black Authors (Volume 1)

Published to celebrate my 20th anniversary as a bookseller, this book is a tribute to the incredible contributions of Black authors. Having dedicated my career to selling books by Black writers, I wanted to honour their work and amplify their voices.

Keepers of the Flame reflects the passion and commitment of these authors to preserve and celebrate African cultural heritage through their writing. To create this collection, I reached out to Black authors I’ve met since 2002, inviting them to share in 200 words:

• What motivates them to write.
• Where they find inspiration.
• Their hopes for readers of their work.

Many authors also offered advice for aspiring writers seeking inspiration or guidance to complete their own projects.

My hope is that Keepers of the Flame will introduce readers to more Black authors, encourage them to explore their works, and inspire them to write and publish their own stories.
